Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to post here, and sorry for asking such a loaded question.īy all means use OO in whatever manner you wish, but be prepared to be told that something is not possible, or is an incorrect use of the product. I like Open Office and will continue to use it in whatever manner I wish. Solid ground for misunderstandings.ĭespite the considerations above I will not delete the original draft of this post for principal reasons:įelixthadog wrote:After reading all of the posts in this thread, I feel quite ostracized on this forum so I will seek other solutions elsewhere. In this special case the literal question and the re-interpreted one as well are against the perception experienced users have of software generally and of spreadsheets in specific. Actually such questions are mostly about the "How?". In addition most questioners asking such a question don't expect it to be taken literally. The question formally was of the kind "Is it possible.?" And the formally correct answer, worded as a question in return, in such cases is next to always "How should I know?" A definite "No!" about feasibility is a risky attempt. I early tried to point to the slings, but was not well understood another time. ![]() Unfortunately there were expectable misunderstandings he didn't anticipate. The questioner in fact posted a rather clear question and finally actually read the responses and replied in a civil way. This done the same answer as given in viewtopic.php?f=9&t=93396 would apply.Īoo93377TableWithLinesInsideCells_1.odt (11.33 KiB) Downloaded 60 times Given my interpretation for Calc using borders for the purpose requires to first split the compound cell content the OQ exemplified into three cells (by 'Text to Columns.' e.g.) and to arrange the contents vertically again. ![]() I suspect it's also not feasible in Excel, but I won't suckle that poison to find out. It is not feasible in Calc cells (or tables consisting of such cells). A similar result you can also get with a text-frame. This is (cum grano salis) feasible in text-tables of 'Writer' (and suppopsedly in 'Word'). And he expected these linebreaks to behave like empty paragraphs with an underlined (or similar) right aligned tabulator at the end. I factually was not in doubt about my interpretation: He had one cell with a compound content of three components separated by hard line breaks.
